Classical Trancelations 2 – The Top Entrees

classical-trancelations-2-the-top-entrees

When we launched ‘Classical Trancelations 2’ (read about it in this interview), we asked you to submit your version of the ‘Classical Trancelations’ concept or an acoustic cover of your favorite tune. As if we gave you the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity you’ve been waiting for, you have sent us so many brilliant covers of classic records that it became next to impossible to choose the top entrees. At long last, however, we picked seven and posted them on Facebook. You’ll find those ‘Classical Trancelations’ below. Enjoy!

Armin van Buuren – Communication | by David Toth
If this isn’t a spectacular piece of guitar play, we don’t know what is. Armin van Buuren’s ‘Communication’ has received a splendid acoustic effort by David Toth. Let’s hope he keeps on doing this, because we think this piece of work is truly remarkable.

Armin van Buuren feat. Mr. Probz – Another You | by E&C
Take a few students from Pingtung, Taiwan, give them a set of orchestral instruments and they’ll play… Armin van Buuren feat. Mr. Probz – ‘Another You’! These guys (and girls) added their own personal touch to Armin van Buuren’s hit single and made something they can be extremely proud of.

Dash Berlin – Shelter (ft. Roxanne Emery)/Till the Sky Falls Down | by Chloe
With two of Dash Berlin’s most recognizable records merged into a splendid piano cover by Chloe, a one-of-a-kind composition sees the light of day. A blend of warm vocals and heartfelt lyrics never fail to take breaths away and Chloe has just taken it to another level.

Armin van Buuren feat Jan Vayne – Serenity | by Stan Wilhelm
As the second cover in this list with excellent guitar play at its core, it’s another Armin van Buuren record that receives an acoustic treatment. Having arranged and recorded all of the instruments and elements himself, Stan Wilhelm is the man responsible for this excellent effort.

JES, Cold Blue & Dennis Sheperd – Runaway | by Daryll Evan
Reworking one of the lesser known trance tunes in this list, Daryll Evan picked up his guitar and started playing the gorgeous melody of ‘Runaway’, originally recorded by JES, Cold Blue, and Dennis Shepherd. Needless to say, his effort was so good that we picked it as one of the best entrees of the Classical Trancelations competition.

Armin van Buuren feat. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like | by Hayley Ebenstiner
This was the record leading to Armin van Buuren’s Grammy® nomination, and it has been turned into a piece of acoustic goodness. It reminds us how beautiful the fundamental piano-meets-vocal combination can be. A great cover by Hayley Ebenstiner of Armin van Buuren feat. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like.

Plumb – I Don’t Deserve You (Paul van Dyk Remix) | by Michele C
Her voice has graced several Trance tunes to date and this performance mesmerized us as well. Even though she didn’t cover an actual Trance tune – the original is by Plumb – we just considered this one a cover of Paul van Dyk’s remix of the tune. Either way, this acoustic version by Michele C. is ridiculously beautiful.

As a final note, a big shout-out to all that have sent in their ‘Classical Trancelation’. We loved listening to all of your entrees and we sincerely hope that you keep on doing this. Talent like that should be cherished and nurtured, and we are always interested in hearing new acoustic interpretations of our tunes. Thank you!
